Job Description

 

This role is accountable for guaranteeing thorough end-to-end risk management, enabling well informed business decisions and favorable customer outcomes. This encompasses identifying, understanding, and effectively handling risks, including emerging ones. It also involves developing and implementing controls to ensure seamless integration of operational risk and compliance frameworks within the Mortgage Operations business. Ensuring that senior leaders and stakeholders have the appropriate oversight and governance of the risk and control environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe implementation of product and process changes. You will support the Operations Team in managing and overseeing risks throughout the Operations value chain.

 

Responsibilities

    • Assessing new, existing and changing processes and putting risk mitigations in place through effective control design and implementation.
    • Coach, and advise Operations on risk and compliance management.
    • Foster a proactive risk culture by working with senior leaders, business partners and Line 2 teams to shape the best approaches to risk and change matters.
    • Develop and maintain the Operational Risk and Controls register within the defined risk appetite.
    • Ensure risks, including emerging risks, are profiled and recorded in the Risk Profile and updated as necessary.
    • Manage Controls implementation, self-assessments, testing, and reporting.
    • Manage operational incidents and issues to resolution, conduct root cause analysis, design and implement controls to improve risk and compliance outcomes. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in business processes and controls.
    • Assist in producing risk reports for the Board and its Committees.
    • Support senior business leaders in governing and managing risks.
    • Lead risk management activities in change initiatives, in line with Operations' strategic objectives.

 

Experience

    • Manager experience in Risk Management (Line 1 or Line 2), Audit, or similar roles within the mortgage, financial services, or mortgage loan processing industry.
    • Strong understanding and proven competence in risk and compliance management policies and frameworks.
    • Professional qualifications and certifications would be advantageous.
    • Strong understanding and experience in control design/implementation and developing strategies for mitigating risk.
    • Experience working with projects and familiarity with Agile ways of working would be advantageous.
    • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential critical threats and opportunities, and take action to resolve them accordingly.
